Chapelgate
Christian, the defending MIAA C Conference soccer champion, blanked
host Towson Catholic, 2-0, yesterday in Towson, for its fifth
consecutive win and the Yellowjackets now maintain a three-point lead
atop the league standings with just three games remaining prior to the
start of post-season play.
Senior Jim Becker led Chapelgate
(10-2-1, 6-1-0) with a goal and an assist and junior Jin-Min Jeong also
scored as both Yellowjacket goals came in the first half. Freshman
Mike Becker also added an assist and senior goalkeeper Nathan Edwards
had nine saves to record the shutout.
Baltimore Lutheran (7-7-0,
5-3-0), which lost to Chapelgate earlier this week, moved into
second-place yesterday with a 4-0 rout of Beth Tfiloh (5-5-2, 4-2-2).
Sophomore James Woods led Lutheran with a goal and two assists, while Ryan Kutchey made five stops to get the shutout.
The
Warriors (5-5-2, 4-2-2), who led the C Conference for much of this
season, are now 0-1-1 in their last two. Towson Catholic (6-3-1,
3-3-1) still ramins in solid position to grab on the league’s four
playoff positions, as it leads fifth-place Mount Carmel by four points.
