AACS HIRES A FOOTBALL COACH AND IS SET TO BEGIN PLAY IN THE FALL

As
was reported on this site previously, Annapolis Area Christian has
started a football program and will begin play in the new MIAA C
Conference this coming fall.  The Eagles took a major step to that end
this week with the hiring of former Gonzaga (DC) head coach Ken Lucas
to build and lead the program.

Lucas coached at Gonzaga from
2001-2006 where he was a two-time Washington Catholic Athletic
Conference Coach of the Year.  He also led his team to the 2002 WCAC
title.  As a player, Lucas was three-year letterman at the University
of Delaware where he wasnamed All-American status in 1986 and earned a
B.S. degree in Agricultural Business Management.

Lucas has also
coached at the U.S. Army All-American Game, the nation’s premier high
school all-star game, several times, including once as a head coach.

In
addition to his duties as head football coach, Lucas will serve as
Assistant Athletic Director at AACS and will be the Facilities Manager
at the newly constructed Kilby Student/Athletic Center on the school’s
Severn campus.

AACS will be joined in the C Conference by former
B Conference programs Baltimore Lutheran and St. John’s Catholic Prep,
as well as Friends, which is renewing its varsity program after a
two-year hiatus.
