This weeks Baltimore Sun boys
Track & Field poll lists Archbishop Curley in the “others
considered,” which consists of five teams on the outside, looking in at
those above them in the Top 10. At the top of that list, ranked #1, is
Mount St. Joseph. The poll is sure to be altered next week, after
soon-to-be ranked Curley upset St. Joe, 75-71, in a MIAA A Conference
dual-meet yesterday in Baltimore.
The meet was close throughout and
Curley got a “real bonus and surprise,” according to Coach Gene
Hoffman, when freshman George Chambers won the 400 in an excellent time
of 51.50.
Other Curley winners were:
Eric Franklin – 110 HH in 15.4 and 300 IH in 40.6
Ray Ridgeway – 100 in 11.3
Erik Anderson – 1600 in 4:37 and 3200 in 10:22
Kevin Franklin – 200 in 23.2
Ben Dantoni – Discus, 131′ 8″
Curley also won both sprint relays, the 4×100 in 44.4 and the 4×200 in 1:32.9.
