SUPSIC PLACES FIFTH IN STOCKHOLM MARATHON

Former Archbishop Curley runner John Supsic, who graduated from the MIAA school in 1996, recently placed fifth in the Stockholm Marathon, in a field of nearly 10,000 runners from 60 different countries.

Suspic covered the 42.2km course in 2:25.49 and was in the thick of the competition from start to finish.  In fact, at 20 km, Suspic held the lead.  He slipped back as far as eleventh, before rallying to finish fifth.

The course was basically two laps through central Stockholm and had an altitude varience of 29 meters from its highest to lowest points.

Supsic was also the first American to cross the finish line and finished just 4:57 behind winner Phillip Bandawe of Zimbabwe.
