Former Calvert Hall star impressing early in wooden bat league

Former Calvert Hall baseball player Jeremy Jakubowski, fresh from a standout season for St. Joseph’s University (PA), had a huge week for the College Park Bombers of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League and was named Co-Hitter of the Week for the week of June 18-24.

Jakubowski
led the league with 10 hits in 22 at-bats last week, posting a .455 batting average. He
doubled once, scored three runs, and drove in four.

Jakubowski posted
an on of 1.000 for the week and also stole two bases. He hit in five
of six games for the Bombers, including two three-hit performances, and
finished the week with a two-hit, three-RBI day against the Maryland
Redbirds on Sunday.

The CRSCBL is an all-wooden bat league founded in 2005 to showcase the skills of some the regions top college players and games are played at several regional facilities, including the University of Maryland and Towson University.  Alumni of the league include several prominent MIAA players, including St. Paul’s Steve Johnson, who is now pitching in the Los Angeles Dodgers system and Mount St. Joseph’s Steven Clevinger,  who was drafted in 2006 by the Chicago Cubs.
