Getting a major decision was Evan Ennis (135) for the Cardinals, with Bill Gialamas (112) and Danny Yarborough (285) earning decisions — the latter, in overtime, 2-0.
Kenneth Green (119), Peter Wilcox (140) and private schools state champ Fred Green (145) had pins for St. Mary’s, with a decision coming from Ben Henry (189).
The 119-pound match was the night’s best, with each wrestler having decked the other during their two previous meetings.
Nik Gialamas led by as much as 6-0 in the first period, but was reversed for a score of 6-2 heading into the second.
Green turned Gialamas for two nearfall points to come within, 6-4, but an escape had Gialamas ahead, 7-4.
Green closed the gap to 7-6 with his first takedown of the match, and then scored the pin and the win in 3:06.
